Every two weeks, you’ll discard the current aligners and switch to the next set. Every six weeks, you’ll meet with Dr. Sorensen for a check-up and to receive your next set of aligners.

You can remove them and gently brush them with a toothbrush every night, or use a denture cleaner, Retainer Brite® or official Invisalign® crystals to keep them sanitized. Another option is to use clear anti-bacterial soft hand soap to clean your aligners. The ease of cleaning aligners is one of the many benefits of using Invisalign® over traditional braces.

Can I switch from traditional braces to Invisalign®?

If you are unhappy with your traditional braces and would like to explore the option of switching to Invisalign®, you can schedule a consultation with Dr. Sorensen to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the treatment. Unlike traditional braces that use a retainer with a plastic piece that snaps onto the roof of your mouth, Invisalign® utilizes Vivera® retainers. These retainers are made from the same material as the Invisalign® aligners and are designed to keep your teeth in place. They are thicker and more durable than the aligners as they need to be worn for a longer period of time. You will receive four Vivera® retainers which you will need to swap out over the course of your retention period.
